The key to making sure that your refrigerator live a long life is making sure that it is clean. Make sure that you are cleaning under the fridge and behind it on a regular basis. Also, clean the grill to really improve the airflow to the fridge.
Vacuum the coils, so they can cool the refrigerator more efficiently. Wipe down all the door seals. Many times these seals can become sticky from spilled drink and sticky hands from cooking. Just use some warm soapy water to wipe down the seals. If your freezer is not frost free then make sure to defrost it once the ice becomes more than a quarter inch thick.

Cleaning your stove and oven is crucial for their longevity. Wipe down the surface and nobs of your oven and stove to prevent build up. Take the grates off of your stove and soak them in warm soapy water to release any build up that is attached to them. To clean an oven follow the manufacturer's instructions, if that doesn't work, use an oven cleaner or warm soapy water to scrub the inside of the oven. This should be done at least every three months.
